Who We Are
Youth For Understanding (YFU) is one of the oldest and largest international educational non-profit organization that focuses on international youth exchange. We have programs in more than 60 countries around the world.
What We Do
Youth for Understanding sends and receives high school aged students on year-long exchange programs. The students live with host families. We specifically need volunteers for ongoing opportunities in the greater Middlebury community . Some of the volunteer opportunities we currently offer include: Supporting our international students and host families throughout their hosting experience. Interviewing potential host families. Facilitating and coordinating orientations. Organizing events for international students. Supporting YFU efforts to find host families. Interviewing Study Abroad candidates. Evaluating scholarship applications. **Our national office is based out of Washington, DC but we are seeking volunteers all over the US. There are students placed in the Middlebury, VT community starting in the fall of 2018 that we need volunteers to help support.
