Who We Are
Mission: TVT enhances the economic, social and environmental health of the region by providing community transportation services for everyone that are safe, reliable, accessible and affordable.
History: TVT began in 1976 when community leaders recognized that many residents were impeded by a lack of reliable transportation. Since then our community transportation services have been improving the lives of rural Vermonters by providing them access to the places, people, and things they need to thrive. TVT’s rides help people earn an income, age at home with dignity, participate in community, & stay healthy.
Your Impact:
- Financial support from individuals, businesses, towns and organizations helps us raise the 20% local match that is required by our government grants. We are a 501(c)(3) and donations are tax-deductible.
- Volunteer Drivers are the backbone of our Dial-A-Ride programs that benefit our most vulnerable neighbors.
- Riding the Bus reduces your carbon footprint and helps keep services viable for vulnerable neighbors who have no other way to get around.
What We Do
We operate two transportation systems.
- The Shuttle Bus System can take you around Addison County, north to Burlington and south to Rutland. Our ADA accessible buses are operated by CDL certified drivers.
- Dial-a-Ride System serves vulnerable residents who are not able to access the buses. It takes elders and persons with disabilities, Medicaid-eligible residents and others to medical services, work, grocery stores and meal sites. We match ride requests with best available mode which may be a volunteer driver. Volunteers use their own vehicles and receive generous mileage reimbursement. Volunteers can decide when and how often they will drive. These volunteer services are life-changing for the people who need them.
